Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I contribute a talk/poster? Where do I submit the abstract?
    If you would like to contribute a talk or a poster, please go to the registration form and reply Yes to the question Would you like to apply to present a talk or a poster? The next section of the registration form will give you space to input the details of your talk/poster, including title and abstract.
    If your presentation cannot be accomodated as a talk, we may offer you to bring it in poster form instead. If your presentation is accepted, the committee will automatically consider you for financial aid.
  • Do I have to register if I want to submit an abstract?
    Yes, we are handling both steps in one same process. You should submit the abstract of your proposed talk/poster using the registration form. If later on you decide to cancel your participation, you can just send us an email to mssme2026@uit.no. 
  • Do I have to pay for my abstract to be considered?
    No, you can wait for the decision of the committee before you pay. Also, if your presentation gets approved, you are automatically considered for financial aid, so most likely your fee will be reduced.
  • Can I get a refund?
    Yes, we are able to handle fee refunds until June 5, 2026. Please send us an email to mssme2026@uit.no. A handling fee of 250 NOK (about 25 USD or 21 EUR) may be deducted from the amount you originally paid.
  • Does the research presented have to be new/unpublished?
    No, you may apply to contribute a talk/poster presenting research that you already published in the past.
  • Is publishing mandatory if I want to contribute a talk/poster?
    No, publishing a paper in the conference proceedings is optional. 
  • Do I need to get the full paper ready before applying to contribute a talk/poster?
    No. Publishing a paper in the proceedings is optional, and the publication process will be handled after the conference.
  • Can I apply for financial aid or a conference fee waiver?
    Yes, please use the registration form to do so.
  • What template should I use for the paper? What is the maximum number of pages? How many columns should I use?

    The committee is still engaged in ongoing discussions regarding some of these details. The publication process will only be handled after the conference. Your application to give a talk will be decided on the basis of the abstract and other details submitted in your application, and it is not necessary to submit a finished paper.

  • What does the registration fee include?
    Your registration fee gives you full access to all talks, materials, lunches and coffee breaks throughout the conference.
