Are you studying at a European university not currently partnered with UiT, but your institution holds an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE)? If so, you may be eligible to apply for an Erasmus+ traineeship at UiT The Arctic University of Norway for up to one academic year.

If you're applying for a traineeship in clinical medicine or healthcare (e.g. Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Paramedics, Physiotherapy, or Social Education), please follow the dedicated application procedures:

  • Autumn Semester (August–December)
    🟱 Opens: 15 March
    🔮 Deadline: 1 September

  • Spring Semester (January–June)
    🟱 Opens: 15 September
    🔮 Deadline: 1 February


📚 Academic Calendar & Orientation


  • Minimum: 2 months
  • Maximum: 1 academic year (two semesters) per study cycle (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD)
    Note: Semesters do not need to be consecutive.

To apply, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a degree program at a university with an Erasmus Charter.
  • Have B2 or C1 level English proficiency (CEFR).
  • Be from one of the Erasmus+ Programme Countries (see list below).
  • Be physically present and actively participate in the traineeship.
  • If you’ve graduated, you must have been selected during your final year and complete the traineeship within one year of graduation.

To apply, you must first secure a supervisor at UiT. Reach out directly to a professor or research group and mention that you're applying as a Guest Erasmus+ Trainee.

Before submitting your application, make sure you have:

  • ✅ A completed and signed Learning Agreement (by you and your home university).
  • 🆔 A copy of your passport or national ID (EU/EEA citizens).
  • 📄 CV
  • 📑 Your latest transcript of records.

UiT does not provide insurance, so you must arrange your own coverage:

  • Health insurance for medical expenses.
  • Accident and liability insurance.
  • Travel insurance with emergency repatriation.

Student housing is available only if you apply by:

  • 🏡 31 May for Autumn Semester
  • 🏡 30 November for Spring Semester

It’s your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa or registration:

  • EU/EEA students: Must register upon arrival.
  • Non-EU/EEA students: Must obtain a visa before arriving.
