How to Get Here
The nearest airport to Harstad is Evenes Airport (Harstad/Narvik Airport), located approximately 45 kilometers from Harstad. The travel time from the airport to Harstad is around 45–55 minutes. You can travel to Harstad from the airport by:
Flybussen (Airport Bus): Visit the Flybussen website to plan your journey. Use "Harstad/Narvik lufthavn Evenes" as the departure point and "Harstad Byterminal" as the destination for convenient departures. The cost is approximately 150–210 NOK.
Flytaxi: You can book a Flytaxi by calling +47 77041020 (phone lines are open from 06:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 21:00 on weekends). Each taxi accommodates up to three passengers, and bookings must be made individually at least 3 hours before departure or arrival. Passengers are allowed one reasonably sized piece of luggage each to ensure space for everyone. The cost is 550 NOK per passenger. At Evenes Airport, the taxi service monitors flight delays and adjusts pick-up times accordingly. However, in case of flight cancellations, you must notify the taxi service yourself. For return trips, pick-ups will be scheduled at specific times.
Taxi: To book a regular taxi, it is recommended to arrange this in advance to avoid long waiting times at Evenes Airport (e.g., before boarding your flight from the departure location). Call +47 77 04 10 00 to book. The cost is approximately 1360–1680 NOK.
Travelling via Tromsø
Alternatively, you can fly to Tromsø Airport, Langnes, located 300 km north of Harstad (approximately a 4.5-hour drive). Tromsø offers direct flights from cities such as Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Geneva. From Tromsø Airport, take the local bus to Prostneset (port) using the Svipper app. Select "Tromsø lufthavn" as the departure point and "Prostneset havneterminal" as the destination. The travel takes 20-28 minutes and costs approximately 50 NOK. Alternatively, taxi from located outside the airport. From Prostneset you can continue your journey to Harstad via:
Hurtigbåt (Express Boat): The fastest and most convenient option, offering a scenic three-hour journey through the fjords. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Use the Svipper app to book tickets. For schedules, visit: linje-2-tromso-finnsnes-harstad. The cost is approximately 700 NOK.
