Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag av avhandlingen:
This thesis explores eating, speech and long term follow up after head and neck cancer, using surveys and interviews. Three of four survivors report eating problems and about six in ten have speech difficulties—often caused by dry mouth, reduced jaw mobility or swallowing disorders. These problems undermine enjoyment of food, social life and self image. Many find follow up fragmented and must coordinate care themselves, with gaps in dental, nutritional and speech/swallowing services. Rural patients face long travel, staff turnover, extra costs, difficult digital tools and rigid reimbursement rules. The findings call for better coordinated, more accessible services.
