A warm welcome to this workshop, which addresses a central topic that you will benefit from learning more about and discussing with other supervisors and experts in the field.
Addressing gender, diversity, and power in postgraduate supervision is essential for creating an inclusive and equitable research environment. By understanding and actively engaging with these dynamics, supervisors can support the diverse needs of their candidates and contribute to a more just and inclusive academic community.
We are lucky to have Anne Britt Flemmen to introduce this important theme. She is particularly recognized for her contributions to the fields of gender studies and sociology. Her work often explores themes related to gender, power dynamics, and social structures, with a focus on understanding how these elements intersect and influence various aspects of society. She examines the complexities of gender relations and the impact of societal norms on individual and collective identities. Her scholarly contributions have been influential in advancing discussions around gender equality and diversity, particularly within educational and institutional contexts.
This workshop is offered as a voluntary part of the Development Program for PhD Supervisors (UNIPED-600) as well as part of the continuation program for PhD supervisors. It is also open to other interested employees at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
