GUIDED TOUR | Church Art Safari

Join us on Monday, 29 December for a special holiday guided tour where we explore the surprising creatures depicted in centuries-old church art — from pelicans and parrots to the dogs watching from high above.
In this tour, we search for animals in medieval and post-Reformation ecclesiastical art and uncover why they appear, what they symbolised, and what these stories can still tell us today. The exhibition spans two rooms: a smaller space filled with pre-Reformation wooden sculptures of saints and Madonnas — many crafted in Lübeck — and a larger hall showcasing Norwegian-made altarpieces, sculptures, and memorial tablets. Every object reveals how deeply religion shaped the lives and imaginations of people in the past.

Participation is free with a regular museum ticket, purchased at the entrance. No booking required.
