Bank transfer timeline and confirmation

Depending on the banking system in your country, the transfer of funds to Norway may take several days to a few weeks. Please stay in regular contact with your bank to monitor the progress of your transfer.

Once your funds have arrived in Norway, the Arctic Student Welfare Organisation of Norway will issue a confirmation of deposit, which will be sent to you by email.

You must include this confirmation along with your supporting documents when submitting your student visa application.

If you are confident that your funds have arrived in Norway but have not yet received the confirmation, please contact:
📧 okonomi@samskipnaden.no

Bring Cash with You

Make sure to exchange your foreign currency to Norwegian Kroner (NOK) during your transit at Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
⚠️ Do not bring Euros or US Dollars to your final destination, as it can be very difficult to find places that exchange these currencies.

You will need Norwegian cash to pay for taxis and buy food during your first few days in Norway, until you gain access to your deposit.

Bring Credit/Debit Cards

We strongly advise you to bring your credit or debit card and check with your bank to ensure that your cards are valid for use in Norway.
You can use your cards to withdraw cash from ATM machines at the airport.

Accessing Your Deposit After Arrival

To access the funds in your deposit account after arriving in Norway:

Cash Card

You can order a Danske Bank Prepaid Card from the Arctic Student Welfare Organisation of Norway to withdraw money from your deposit.

  • The card costs NOK 200 (one-time fee).
  • It can be used free of charge in shops, at ATMs, and at terminals labelled BankAxept.
  • Please note: The Arctic Student Welfare Organisation does not accept cash or cheques.

More information about the cash card will be provided during the orientation programme.

📧 For inquiries, email: prepaid.card@samskipnaden.no
