About the course

Subject can be taken as single course

Students will be provided with theoretical knowledge about innovation, entrepreneurship, and small businesses. Students will learn to cooperate practically with case companies and/or case organisations.

Nordic applicants: Generell studiekompetanse

International applicants: Higher Education Entrance Qualification and certified language requirements in English.

Objectives of the course

Knowledge:

  • will be familiar with central approaches and theories to understanding innovation as a core concept of entrepreneurship in general and cross border entrepreneurship in particular


Skills:

  • will be able to apply theoretical concepts to understand and analyze processes of innovation and entrepreneurship in practice; will be able to self-assess his or her practical case study efforts


Competence:

  • will appreciate the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship and can conduct teamwork based case work

Teaching methods

The lectures are organised in blocks.

For a week-long workshop, teaching could take place in other countries (Russia, Finland)

Methods are lectures, team work, paper writing, presentations, idea creation and communication with representatives of case organisations

English

Application deadline

Applicants from Nordic countries: 1 June for the autumn semester and 1 December for the spring semester.

Applicants from outside the Nordic countries: 1 October for the spring semester and 15 April for the autumn semester.

Assessment

The students academic performance will be assessed both through:

A formative evaluation:
- Project and teamwork participation, I.e. attendance is mandatory (at least 80% of class) work paper.
- Project work-based written papers
- Written case work evaluations.

And a summative evaluation:
- Final term paper, 10 pages.

Final term paper is graded A-F.
Possibility for resit exam in case of F.
