Fasil Ejigu Eregno
Job description
Fasil Ejigu Eregno is an Associate Professor of Water and Environmental Engineering at the Department of Building, Energy and Material Technology, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology. He holds a PhD in Water and Environmental Engineering from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), where he focused on Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment and Water Quality Modelling: On Drinking Water Sources, Recreational and Recycled Waters (2017).
His research interests include water and wastewater treatment technologies, on-site wastewater treatment systems, water safety in supply systems, water quality analysis and modeling, hydrodynamic and hydrological modeling, and health risk assessment and management in water and wastewater systems.
Fasil has published research on these topics in leading scientific journals. He currently supervises six PhD students whose research focuses on experimental and industry-driven topics within water and environmental engineering, such as resource recovery from wastewater, development of dynamic water quality models for surface and groundwater, and environmental health aspects related to One Health issues.

Research interests
I am interested in a holistic approach to addressing complex environmental challenges. My work focuses on several areas, including water and wastewater treatment technologies, on-site wastewater treatment systems, water safety in supply systems, water quality analysis and modeling, hydrodynamic and hydrological modeling, and health risk assessment and management in water and wastewater systems. My overall aim is to identify management targets that can improve water supply systems and enhance living conditions.
