    Research interests

    Dr. Heintzman bruker degradert DNA for å vurdere evolusjonære og økologiske spørsmål rundt en lang rekke forskjellige organismer (inkludert insekter, pattedyr og planter). Han er ekspert på anvendelse og utvikling av eldgamle DNA-metodologier, spesielt innen det voksende underfeltet av sedimentært gammelt DNA. Ved hjelp av denne ekspertisen bestemte han den mest presis begrensede tidspunktet for en forhistorisk utryddelsesarrangement, som han vant PNAS Cozzarelli-prisen for.
