Pastoral care and handling of difficult situations

Improving and training of IG employees in the handling of difficult situations connected to work environment

Working at IG means spending a large parts of your life with colleagues and student. Eventually all of us will find ourselves in situations where colleagues or students need our help. Either because of unacceptable behavior, or they’re having a tuff time. It could be called “psychological unbalance”. Trigger factors are emotional disorders, intoxication, conflict, grief or just plain bad manners (bullying, harassment).

Through two lectures on the 15th of May, and one sessions with practical exercises in juni, we hope to improve IG employees competence and self-reliance in these situations.

The lectures on the 15th are:

  • Prevetion and handling of unacceptable behavior – Martin H Petersen, Safety advisor NT-fak
  • How to be a fellow-being when someone is struggling, Pastoral care – Torbjørn Askevold, Hospital priest, UNN
